I’ve said it before, but I love going to places I’ve not been before, and Monica and Matt’s engagement session took me to a place I had heard of, but had never been; Allerton Park in Monticello, IL. As I arrived the park, the photographer in me started screaming for joy! This place was a dream! Barns, old houses, paths in between evergreens and vines, woods, and so on! It was perfection, and I’m already wanting to go back for more. During Monica and Matt’s engagement pictures, we only scratched the surface of what’s available inside this park.

One thing I love about places like this that require a lot of walking is that it’s such a great opportunity to connect with couples on a more personal level. I love my job and that I’m able to work within my passion, but another thing I love about it is the people I’m able to meet and get to know. I never want to feel like just another wedding vendor when it comes to wedding photography. Since photographing a wedding day is such a personal thing, being able to build a connection with couples makes capturing the candid love they have for one another a lot easier and more comfortable for them. So having this time to spend with Monica and Matt during their engagement pictures was great! They were such a sweet couple and a lot of fun to photograph. I love the location we had to work with.
