Why does time have to go by so quickly?! Seems like such a short time ago I was posting Nick and Victoria’s engagement pictures on the blog. Now all of a sudden October is here, meaning the big day has arrived. What a perfect day it was too. The sun was out, the fall chill kept us cool and the smell of dead leaves filled the air. It’s seriously the perfect time of year, especially for a wedding. Preparation took place at the Carriage House Event Center in Altamont, IL… practically my backyard. It was definitely a change of pace from our last two weddings that involved over 2 hours of driving, it was kind of odd having a chance to sleep in a little and our drive consisting of 2 minutes down the road. In either case, like most every wedding this year, everything went so smoothly. Prep moved right along and we were able to finish with some extra time, allowing us a chance to make sure we were well prepared for the ceremony that was taking place at the Summer Breeze Wine House in St. James, IL, just a 15 minute drive away. What a great location for a ceremony too. Packed away in the middle of farm country, it’s kind of a hidden gem. Ceremonies in a barn are always a challenge as the lighting is rarely ideal, but right in the middle up high was a window that let a ton of light pour into the barn, allowing us to capture beautiful images of Victoria and Nick during their ceremony.

Afterward we made our way out to Ballard Nature Center in Altamont for some pictures of Victoria and Nick with their wedding party. If you’ve read any previous blogs you’ll see that I absolutely love the sunlight during fall. Something about it just seems software and more golden, and this is exactly what we had during pictures at Ballard. It was perfect, because the lighting kind of went along with the color scheme of the bridesmaids dresses. Everything turned out so perfect during the outdoor session and this perfection trickled into the reception hall where we knew things would be taken care of. Janet stays on top of things to ensure that receptions operate smoothly and that the couple has a great night. This is important not just for the couple and ensuring all the events of the reception happen when they are supposed to, but this helps us out as photographers greatly!! We can rest easy knowing that we don’t have to worry about making sure certain events are going to happen on time, so all we have to worry about is capturing great images. We had a great time with Victoria and Nick and obviously loved the way the pictures turned out.
