When should we book our you (photographer)? This is actually a question that is often asked more times than none, so I thought to myself what a great topic to post for The Wire. So when should you book your photographer. I have been booked everywhere from 1 month all the way to 1.5 years in advance. My response goes hand in hand with my previous post on when to get engagement pictures taken. My suggestion would be to book your photographer as soon as possible. Whether it be a year or even two years in advance. Wedding photography grows year after year, and while there are a lot of photographers to choose from, there are also a lot of weddings going on. Most photographers will have certain months filled up six months to a year in advance. For example, June of this year I am completely filled up and have been since last November. June is of course one of the busiest months for weddings as well as October (and the other summer months of course).
Again, my suggestion is to book your photographer as soon as you can. I do not say this because simply because I am a photographer, but only because I know how quickly a lot of photographers can book up. Honestly, I say first book your reception hall, I think in a lot of cases a reception hall fills up much more quickly, then book your photographer. And remember (from my previous post) do not be afraid to ask your photographer anything and everything. Ask them about their schedule, ask them how far in advance them book, anything. This is your big day, so be sure and understand everything you can beforehand. But because it’s sometimes hard to remember all those questions, that is why I started The Wire; in hopes to kind of help with little tid bits of information on wedding planning to hopefully ease the stress just a pinch. 🙂
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
