Sometimes there are those wedding days where everything is just too perfect, I mean everything! That was Kylie and Mike’s wedding. The cool of Fall had finally come, which was perfect because it was an outdoor wedding. The views were stunning as the location of the ceremony overlooked the Missouri River. And the clouds? YES!! I love them. Full cloud coverage came right as we began outdoor pictures. This could not have been any better timing. Don’t get me wrong, clear skies, golden sunsets, these are all amazing, but lots of sun can be harsh and very hard to work with during outdoor weddings. If the clouds didn’t cover the sun, Kylie would have been looking right at the sun and Mike would have been looking away, meaning one face would be lit up, the other face would have been dark. The clouds work as a huge soft box and the light spreads pretty evenly thus resulting in equally lit faces.

As the ceremony started, Kylie and Mike had a pretty unique wedding vendor who was beginning her work. They had a painter who began painting the scene of the ceremomy and then by the end of the night, Kylie and Mike had a pretty cool memento from their big day. I mention this because I have never seen this before and I think this is SUPER cool and would encourage other couples to consider something like this. We did wedding party pictures at this really cool location close by. It used to be a train tunnel, but is now a sort of park area. What made this place extremely cool was that there wasn’t any graffiti either. Kind of surprising. The tunnel was pretty breathtaking. Constructed of stone at the base and then brick at the top, it was pretty amazing to imagine how it was put together. Regardless, it made for one amazing picture backdrop. 🙂

The ceremony and reception took place at Les Bourgeois Vineyards in Rocheport, Mo. This location was absolutely amazing. I already talked about the views of the ceremony, inside the venue provided a small, intimate feel as the Kylie and Mike celebrated with their friends and family. I’m so thankful they allowed me the opportunity to work with them and loved everything about their wedding day!
