So I thought I’d get my random Friday out today. ๐Ÿ™‚ Seeing that I’m already a couple weeks behind, And I didn’t want to miss this week’s. A lot has been happening these past couples weeks. Obviously with Christmas last weekend that kept us pretty busy for a few days. Now, 2011 is already nearing!! I cannot believe how quickly 2010 has gone by. Anyway, on to my random thoughts and/or tid bits of information.

+ Studio
Most important, I have my final meeting with the landlord today about my upcoming studio!! A little construction needs to happen, so be watching for pictures of the new place as it comes together. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so excited to be moving into a studio for a couple reasons. I’ve had a ton of requests for kids and baby pictures this past year, and the parents wanted indoor pictures, and I just couldn’t, or rather didn’t care to have people coming to my house all the time. Not that I didn’t want to do their pictures, but there’s something about going to a house that decreases the credibility of a photographer (unless they have a separate building or wing of their house of course). Another reason is that I will no longer ship the pictures to clients, because I’m going to be focusing on providing a much better experience with using me as a photographer. Lets face it in this business it’s so much more than just taking pictures, the experience is one of the most important aspects of a photographer. Who wants to work with a grumpy, hate-the-world type of photographer? Not me… Lastly, and most obviously, I’ll be able to do indoor studio pictures. Now here’s the kicker, yes, I will offer indoor studio pictures, but I will NOT and never will offer those cheesy scenery background, cheesy smile, cheesy prop pictures. I like everything to be as real as possible, where even studio pictures look like candid pictures. ๐Ÿ™‚

+ Music
Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, or maybe I’m just getting a little class but for a while now I LOVE to listen to composed scores from famous movie composers. There’s something about an intense battle scene music, or music that builds to a climax that gets me going. A few of my favorites are; Hans Zimmer (Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, Inception), Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, The Island), and Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings). I know, I know, I choose to listen to some of the most popular composers in the film industry, but they are the best for a reason, and seeing that music is obviously their passion, there’s just something that is encouraging seeing someone who uses their passion to become the best at what they do.

+ 2011!
I cannot believe a decade has already gone by since I was standing in a room December 31, 1999 waiting with everyone in silence to see if anything would happen. Do you all remember that? Remember the masses of people buying jugs and jugs of water, getting sam’s club sized cans of food and mac ‘n cheese? Not knowing if anyone would have electricity, or if our money would still be recorded in the bank accounts? Looking back it’s so funny that we thought things that this would happen, but that last month of December it was almost as if you could sense fear all around. But here we are 10 years later ย moving on to 2011, and here’s the problem we face with this coming year. Back in the 90s and 80s and prior, you could say, “The year is 95”, or “back in 72 I…” Now what do we say? Saying “two thousand eleven” is far too many syllables, and saying twenty-eleven just sounds goofy, and then by the time we figure out something that works, 2012 will be here! lol

+ Newsletter
Lastly, and definitely not the least, starting 2011 I will be releasing a newsletter everything month with information on my business, specials that are only available through the newsletter, and little in the know for clients (or potential clients), as well as tid bits for photographers who may follow me. Whether it is the latest piece of equipment, software, computer, photoshop actions, etc. It’ll be great! So be watching out for a signup to release soon!

Have a great Wednesday everyone, and stay safe through the new year!!
