Wow! First of all, who would have ever guessed it would be a whopping 80 degrees on fourth of July weekend? We are in Illinois, correct? It's supposed to be like 185 degrees by now. HA! So already, the day was off to a great start and I hadn't even starting taking...

Rain Rain Go Away – Victoria and Grant :: Highland, IL Wedding Photographer

If you're an avid follower, this couple may look familiar to you. That's because this is round two! Last year, Grant and Victoria had a small ceremony in their front yard, thanks to the pandemic. It was a great day and funny enough, I remember on the way home from...

Botanical Gardens St. Louis, MO Engagement Pictures :: Ashley + Kyle

It's been a little bit since I've been to the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis. So long, in fact, that I did not realize any construction was happening there. As I pulled in, I drove down the main entrance only to question if I was at the right place because...

Rend Lake Southern Illinois Engagement Pictures :: Kaitlyn + Chase

A few times over the years, I've worked with couples where instead of them driving all the way to me or me to them, we finding a meeting place near the middle. What I love about this type of session is that it usually makes for quite and adventure. My last session...

Snow Sessions Effingham, IL

I know, I know, who wants to talk about snow when warmer weather is upon us, but can I just have my moment for a minute? 😛 I'm so looking forward to warmer weather. In fact, I've already got my first sunburn of 2021 (hopefully the only one) because I've been enjoying...

Wedding Photographer Effingham, IL :: Michelle + Blake

A little over three weeks into 2021 and I've now had two weddings! What a way to start the year. Sure, it's cold outside, but that doesn't mean we can't still have an amazing day for pictures. It was definitely cold on Michelle and Blake's wedding day. The wind was...

Effingham, IL Wedding Photography :: Liz + Hayden

No one likes a change in plans, at least not when they are plans you are looking forward to. That has been the story with 2020 wedding planning. Everything that was planned on was more than likely changed in some way. While changed plans are a bummer, the end result...

Ramsey, IL Engagement Pictures :: Monica + Carter

I posted on social media about my love of late Fall for pictures. The vibrant colors of Fall are great, don't get me wrong, but there's something about the golden-brown hue and bare trees that I love so much. As I parked my car at the place where I was to meet Monica...

Stoney Ridge Event Center Robinson, IL Wedding Photography :: Shelby + Jacob

Wedding event number two. That has been the overwhelming theme of 2020; split weddings. Shelby and Jacob's ceremony and small reception took place earlier in the year and what a wonderful day they had for a wedding. Fast forward to November, and it was time to...

Effingham, IL Wedding Photographer :: Lacy + Blake

Out of all the weddings this year, I do not think any of them top the experience Lacy and Blake had. If you have ever planned a wedding before, you know it's definitely not a walk in the park. There is a lot that goes into it. Even if you decide to do a simple...

Frequently asked

how far in advance should we book photography?

This answer will vary based on location and of course timing. I always suggest having your wedding venue secured before booking any other vendor. Unless you aren’t too concerned about the location, then by all means, book your favorite vendors first. I have booked a few weddings before they had a venue booked. It’s all about priorities. A good rule of thumb for booking photography is looking into at least a year prior. This is just a suggestion, my average booking happens around nine months before the wedding day.

When should we do engagement pictures?

I suggest at least six months prior. My suggestion is to book the pictures for a different season than your wedding. For example, if your wedding is Fall, schedule the engagement session for Spring or Summer. This gives you a variety of looks to have. Also, if you desire to use your pictures for save the dates or invitations, you’ll want to be sure to have them in time to utilize them in that way.

How do we know how much time we need for pictures?

Throughout the wedding planning process, I work closely with you two to plan and coordinate a wedding photography timeline. This is vital to not only ensuring our ability to photograph your big day, but it’s also extremely important to ensure a smoother wedding. A smoother wedding means less stress for you two, which means better pictures and a more enjoyable day.

What is the retainer for booking your photography service?

The retainer for securing your wedding date is $700. This will be applied to the package you choose. You do not need to finalize a package upon booking, we can secure those details later on.

What is your turnaround time?

On average, wedding images are delivered about 2-4 weeks after the wedding day. Sometimes during the Thanksgiving through Christmas season, this turnaround can push the five-week range due to travels and family gatherings.

Wedding planning is stressful. Is there anywhere I can find more tips?

Okay, this may not be a “frequently” asked question, but I’m making a plug. Check out A Wedding Podcast with Katie and Steffen. This is a podcast I co-host that is dedicated to wedding planning in a fun and energetic way. Check it out here: A WEDDING PODCAST.
