If you’re an avid follower, this couple may look familiar to you. That’s because this is round two! Last year, Grant and Victoria had a small ceremony in their front yard, thanks to the pandemic. It was a great day and funny enough, I remember on the way home from their wedding being chased by a storm. Here we are a year later, I see some familiar faces, and then some, and then to wrap things off, I was chased by another storm on my way home! It was very much a day of deja vu, just a different location. HA!

Before the ceremony, things were very relaxed and pretty chill. Since they were already technically married, no first look or hiding away in secret needed to happen. After everyone was ready, we got on to family pictures and then to the ceremony! The ceremony, and reception for that matter, took place a Schwarz Barn near Highland, IL. The venue looked amazing and I was extremely thankful for the air conditioning. A lot of barn venues do not have A/C, but it was definitely a welcomed surprise as it was pretty muggy out and it would only get muggier as the day went on.

After the ceremony, we were getting ready to do wedding party pictures. I looked out at a clearing of open pasture and an old farm in the background and noticed a rain storm in the background. At this point it was not raining on us, but the rain storm in the background provided quite a view for pictures. We rushed to a spot, you know, just in case, and got pictures of Victoria and Grant together with the rain storm in the background. We then did all the wedding party images and began doing a few more poses of Grant and Victoria together. At this point, it was getting pretty dark. The rain clouds were thick, but it still wasn’t raining. We began to walk toward the pond to do pictures by the water. Not too far from us, we could see a downpour happening. This is when I said the thing you should never say, unless you want it to rain on you of course… “I’m glad we aren’t over there!” Well, “over there” quickly became here because it was at that moment, the largest rain drops began to fall! I’m not even exaggerating, one rain drop hit my glasses and it looked like when you go swimming with goggles and your goggles fill up with water. I couldn’t see out of one side of my glasses thanks to one single rain drop!

That was a wrap in regards to outdoor pictures. We had plans of going out later anyway, and thankful we could go out later. After a little time at the reception, we finished the evening off with pictures out by the pond. At this point, Victoria had mentioned that she did not mind if it was raining some. This was a good mindset to have because by the time we got out out the pond, it did in fact rain! But it was pretty light rain, so no biggie. My gear can handle just a little bit of rain… I hope. All in all, it was such a perfect day. Victoria and Grant were so much fun to work with (again). It’s such an honor being a small part of their wedding day and cannot wait to share more of their images!!
