One amazing thing about photography is that you never know where it might take you. Unless you are strictly a studio photographer, chances are you have the ability to see new locations and have unique opportunities for sessions. This is that type of session. After talking with Hailey, we decided that her family pictures should be more of an event rather than just the traditional style family pictures. We wanted to make the day special, so we decided to do a day at the zoo. I followed her and her boys around the zoo as they checked out the animals and captured the story of family time at the zoo. This was such a fun session full of fun memories and actually one of the most challenging sessions I’ve ever done because of the changing scenery throughout the day. Traditionally, a family session would take place at a location where the lighting is ideal. This one? Since we were walking throughout the park, the lighting situation changed around every corner. Sometimes there were trees, sometimes we were in wide open sun. Sometimes there were so many people that we were shoulder to shoulder with folks, other times, we had a small path all to ourselves. I LOVE challenges. I’ve always said the day I become the photographer that does the same pose, same location, same time type of sessions would be the day I stop doing photography. I don’t want to limit myself to one type of location, setting, etc. I love having challenges. Challenges grow me, not only as a photographer, but everyday challenges grow me as a person. Overall, this was such a fun session and I’m so glad that we had the opportunity to turn family pictures into a special kind of event for Hailey and her kids.
