I promised myself I would not spend a paragraph talking about how much I love fall since I do it every post in fall, just know that I do. 🙂 The past few weeks have presented a lot of early morning sessions, which I love. There’s something pretty cool about waking up in the morning and taking pictures, some people wake up and run in the morning to get the blood flowing, photography does that for me. Rachel and Joel had an session early in the morning, dew was still on the ground, the air was cool and there wasn’t much of a breeze, it was a perfect fall day. The colors were vibrant and Rachel and Joel were ready to go. We started out at Ballard Nature Center, whenever I go here, I usually stick with a few general areas, not because I’m lazy or have my “spots” but because if you want trees as a backdrop, trees are trees, we can walk a mile to get pictures of trees in the background or stay where we are and get equally as good pictures with trees as a background. However, this day, for some reason the sun was shining all over the areas that are usually covered in shade, so we had to do a little exploring.
Now, I exercise a number of days per week, I play hockey once a week, I would consider myself in somewhat decent shape. But walking with 20-30 pounds of gear and climbing up what is call “suicide hill” at Ballard, I was wiped. Although that didn’t stop me, because at the top of the hill was an old cemetery and I didn’t care to shoot there. We found a location that overlooked quite a bit of Ballard which was pretty interesting, I’ve never been out there before. I’ve done two 10k runs out there, I’ve walked a little and done photo shoots and there are still so many areas I’ve not seen before, so I may just have to start exploring more during sessions.
After Ballard, we made our way to Effingham to get some brick/mortar pictures (aka urban pictures). Downtown was pretty quiet for the time being, it would eventually liven up with the halloween parade but thankfully the parade wasn’t coming through at 10:00 am. We had the perfect day for pictures and Rachel and Joel were so much fun to work with.
