I’ve always said that I love getting out and seeing new places to photograph, it’s not only a great way to expand my horizons (literally) with photography, but there’s something about going to a place I’ve never been to take pictures that allows me to see things differently. Consider, for example, your drive to work. You take it every day and you probably don’t even notice anything between your house and your workplace, right? You’ve taken the same road so much, everything looks the same. But let’s say you go on vacation, even the simplest things catch your attention and capture and Ooo or Ahh out of you all because it’s something new. It’s similar with photography. When I photograph the same location over and over, it’s not that I can’t be creative, but there’s no challenge. I love a challenge. When I can go somewhere new as I did with Liz and Hayden’s engagement session in Springfield, IL, everything was new to me. I find joy in some of the weirdest things. I mean, when the sun is cooperating with me and we can pull out some amazing light and/or color, I get excited like it’s the first time I’ve picked up a camera. Add to that a couple that is a total natural in front of the camera and it may for quite a joyous session. I enjoyed working with Liz and Hayden so much and cannot wait for their big day!!
