About 4 years ago, I made the transition from traditional newborn pictures to lifestyle newborn pictures. Traditional pictures didn’t last long after our son was born. Our son was a sleeper… except when it came to newborn pictures. He did not want to sleep at all, nor did he want to pose. As new parents, I thought this can’t be fun for anyone. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great traditional newborn photographers that work some magic when it comes to newborn pictures. Spending two, three, four hours to accomplish said pictures just didn’t work with me 1. as a parent and 2. as a photographer. I didn’t want that experience for my family.
Rather, I wanted a session that could be comfortable not just for baby, but for the family too. Especially when multiple kids are involved. Doing them in the homemade so much sense to me. Mom and dad have been through a lot in the past week, I don’t want to add to the craziness by having them come to the studio.
Carters welcomed baby number three to the mix and what a fun family session this was. I have had the honor of photographing the other two kids (as well as their engagement session and wedding) and being able to now do another chapter of their lives? I couldn’t be more thankful.
