I don’t know what it is about this late summer/early fall sun, but the lighting in all of our sessions so far has be absolutely perfect. Colors are vibrant, the lighting isn’t too harsh, but not too dark, and the weather of course is perfect. Kaitlin’s session was just that, perfect. We started her senior pictures downtown Effingham where we simply walked the sidewalks and hit up different locations for pictures. I had a few ideas, but I’m not like a lot of photographers. I scan the area slightly before and during the shoot for locations. I don’t want to have preconceived ideas of where to go because you never know how the lighting will be and I of course want my pictures to look great, so I make this decision as we shoot. Plus, it keeps me on my toes, always looking at scenes through my camera to see how they’ll look. Visualizing the outcome of the picture. One picture in particular, I knew I wanted to change it up some. It’s an area I’ve been too before, but I wanted to alter the look of the building. Keep it recognizable but change it up in a way that puts a unique spin to the image. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Kaitlin was a blast to work with too. We had so many locations to work with and her outfits for each location was great as well. It was also a session to try new things with too. I’ve had senior pictures where we include the sports in the pictures, but never have I had a tennis senior. This was pretty fun coming up with poses at the tennis courts and seeing what we were able to create. Overall, it was a fun session. I love having the opportunity to do senior pictures, especially when we’re able to get a little creative with them.
