Waiting for the session to start it was nothing but dark, gloomy clouds, and rain. On top of that, it was pretty chilly. Of course, it is Fall, so it should be a little chilly, but 50 degrees with wind starts to push it for outdoor pictures for some people. Even as I was driving to St. Louis, the weather was still the same and with a session at Busch Stadium, I wasn’t really wanting rain. Fortunately, about an hour into my 1.5-hour drive, the clouds started to clear and out came the sun. By the time we did the session, it was full sun and bright blue sky. It seriously couldn’t have worked out better! We started the session in the Cardinals dugout. It’s always fun to see the reaction of couples when they realize they are standing in the dugout that their favorite players stand in. Maybe it’s because I’ve been to Busch Stadium a number of times, this doesn’t really phase me anymore, it’s almost as if it’s just another photography location. It’s still very exciting, I love shooting inside Busch Stadium and while it might come across as a negative thought, the fact that inside Busch Stadium feels like just another location to me is a good thing. My first session there, I felt like I was sprinting to every spot. I had to photograph everything possible and while the pictures turned out great, being rushed is not a good thing. Keeping my composure and taking my time results in much better pictures. Since I’m so accustomed to working at Busch Stadium, this composure allows me to be a lot more creative with pictures.
Kayla and Edwin were so much fun to work with! We had such great lighting to work with inside Busch. Being an afternoon session, especially in Fall, the sun was behind the stadium at 3:00, so the areas I love shooting were all shaded! This is perfect for pictures, especially for making the red seats pop! After Busch Stadium, we made our way to my absolute favorite location in St. Louis; Lafayette Square Park. Seriously, this place is a dream, especially in Fall! Overall, it was a great session. I loved working with these two and feel incredibly thankful and honored that they chose us to be their photographers!
