This past weekend was such an incredible weekend, first of all it was Memorial Day weekend, so having this time to set aside and show our appreciation to those who have sacrificed for this country is just amazing!! Secondly, having an extended weekend to get together with those we haven’t seen in such a long time was great too. Tyler is a friend of mine from high school and college roommate for a while, and I was honored with photographing his and Rachel’s wedding back in 2009. In fact, their wedding was my second wedding as a wedding photographer, so they are a big reason I am where I am today. I’m definitely forever grateful for them allowing me to photograph their wedding, and overjoyed that they would allow me to continue to photograph them with the growth of their family!
Saturday comes around and that morning we went out to Ballard Nature Center and I was able to meet little Parker for the first time and what a bundle of joy he was! Full of smiles and just a lot of fun. These smiles were definitely contagious and it’s pretty clear that this is a happy family from the pictures. It was so much fun getting to photograph these three and watch them interact with each other. The thing I love to do with families, is just that, interact with one another in pictures; laugh, joke, have fun with each other, anything rather than looking at the camera. Now don’t get me wrong I love the pictures of them looking at the camera, but I mostly love the pictures of families just having fun with each other, because it’s these pictures that families can’t capture. They can set up a tripod and get ones of them looking at the camera. Of course, they could try and capture “candid” moments from a tripod, but let’s be real, that’d be difficult and probably kind of awkward.
I had such a blast working with Tyler and Rachel again. And I can’t wait for them to see their pictures! Until then, we’ll post a little teaser:
