This past week has been huge for me! I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the WPPI Road Trip in Chicago. WPPI host a massive show in Las Vegas (which last year and this year I am unfortunately able to attend), and they have every supplier and speaker a photographer could imagine. Its kind of like this, you’re a basketball player in high school, and Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, and Chris Paul all decided to host a camp for high school basketball players. It’s pretty much like that. 🙂 Anyway, why has it been huge you ask? Well the road trip show is only a small version of the Las Vegas show. There were 4 AWESOME speakers/photographers who shared their knowledge and their experiences in photography; how they design packages, edit photos, how they got there start, etc. The ideas that I was able to take away from that day are mind boggling! My head literally feels like it’s the size of a watermelon that is about to explode!
My wife cam with me to Chicago as well, so I thought why not do a little photoshoot? Of course if it didn’t take 10 minutes just to drive one block we could have hit up more places, the chrome bean for example! But it went well. I’m not really much of one to stand in front of the camera, I like to be behind it, hence the reason I am a photographer. 🙂 But I think we got a couple good ones.
After the conference my wife and I decided to hit up the theater. Because we left right from the conference I still had my dressier clothes on, and my nice new sport coat that I bought from Macy’s. Sitting in the theater, I think to myself, “with my jacket in the seat next to me, I will probably forget it if I don’t put it on my lap.” Well, ignoring my thoughts, I left it in the seat next to me. The next morning, as Natasha and I are packing up, I can’t find my jacket. I start to freak!! It hits me that I left it at the theater, but the mall the theater is at doesn’t open till 10:00 a.m., I wanted to leave at 8:00. We walk around for an hour, after getting so bored we decide to just see if anyone is at the theater; workers, manager, janitor…anyone. We head over there only to find out that the theater is open! Ugh! 1 hour wasted, but I was able to get my jacket, so it wasn’t a total loss. 🙂
This was quite a picture trying to take! We had to coordinate our timing with the stop lights and people turning. Finally we gave up and just went for it. Running out in middle of the street, snapping a couple pictures, then leaving! 🙂
My wife, the model, or at least she could be. 🙂 Me on the other hand, it’s nearly impossible to get a serious picture of me smiling! lol
