We recently ran a special for Father’s Day this year to kick off our first official run of Pop-Up Sessions. If you might be confused what a Pop-Up Session is, check out more information here. I received a message from the Hecht family wanting to do baseball pictures as a kind of “dad & me” session. Something like this is EXACTLY what I was hoping for with the Pop-Up Sessions. I love photographing memories and incorporating memories into family sessions is just too much fun. Getting to this point, that’s a story in itself. We decided to the pictures at a ball field somewhere in Effingham. Our first choice was Community Park. I know it’s a busy park in the summer, but I figured the back field wasn’t really used since it’s in pretty poor condition and super small. I arrived early… just in case. It was being used. The Hechts lived close to a field at one of the schools, I checked there, even it was being used. So we decided to check Evergreen park, which has three or four fields, all were used. I thought, surely the high school’s fields aren’t being used. It’s summer, school’s out. As I pull up, two of the fields are being used and one of the two softball fields had just emptied. Finally, an empty field. I couldn’t believe what a challenge this was. I know it’s summer and baseball is in full swing this time of year (see what I did there?). But sheesh! Totally worth it though! I couldn’t have asked for a more fun session. A father and son playing catch, hitting the ball, running the bases and sitting in the dugout, it was perfect!
