One thing I love about the area we are in is that we have the opportunity to do pictures downtown to get a little more of an urban look and drive two minutes away and get a country look. That’s exactly what we did for Elizabeth’s senior pictures. We started downtown Effingham where we used a lot of the brick and street to create a little more of an urban look. What a perfect evening it was. The sun was just setting behind the buildings, so we had plenty of shaded area to work with which means we had some amazing light to work with. After pictures downtown, we traveled a couple minutes away to a location with a barn and an hold house. These made for some really great country setting pictures. The Fall colors were beginning to show in the trees, Elizabeth was dressed in Fall colors, it all made for some great pictures. We wrapped up the session at Elizabeth’s house where we used her family’s property and pond for the pictures. As we began our time our there, the sun was just starting to set, giving us some really soft light to work with. I love this time of evening for pictures because the light is so soft that I have to adjust my settings to allow for a little more light to enter my camera, thus producing a pretty raw looking image, almost as if the pictures were taken on film. I love this time of evening, but this time doesn’t last long. Once the sun starts to set, it seems like a matter of seconds until there’s no light to work with anymore. Thankfully, we were able to squeeze in a little bit of this light to create some amazing pictures for her. What a fun session it was, Elizabeth was a great senior to work with!
