I posted a little while ago on Emma, but those were the hospital newborn pictures. On July 4th we went to Kirstie and Brant’s to spend some time with the family and get newborn pictures. Most every picture was taken in the master bedroom. Lots of natural light poured through the windows and with the white room and white blanket, it made it pretty easy to get amazingly lit pictures. As you know, I do not specialize in newborns, obviously being family, I’m going to do the pictures because, well, they are family and I want to be able to do that for them. With that said, I’m not the typical newborn photographer. Don’t get me wrong, newborn photographers that can create AMAZING work blow me away!! I don’t know how they have the patience to do that, but they do it right. If you want your newborn pictures to look like a work of art, invest in that. I, however, shoot more of a “photo-journalistic” type when it comes to newborns. I like to capture moments with the parents and their newborn, or in this case, the parents, baby AND newborn.
Kortland was still adjusting to the new addition to the family but he participated a little, but at times he needed some help from his shows. Plus he looks pretty cute sitting their with his legs crossed so focused on what is going on. Emma was such a great baby to photograph, not going to lie, I could be biased because it’s family but both Emma and Kortland have been such awesome babies to photograph! Like I said above, to be a great baby photographer, you have to have patience like no other, I do not have this sort of patience, but with these two babies, I haven’t needed it so that’s been nice… I’ve been spoiled as a photographer in that regard.
Had to get one of Kortland by himself. This was actually just my test image to make sure I liked my lighting. haha Sometimes these test pictures end up up being some of my favorites
