Chicago has become one of my favorite cities to photograph. The potential is endless. When Karen asked if I would want to do their engagement pictures up there, I was all for it. I’m always up for a little traveling. As I arrived in Chicago, the weather forecast was not looking good. I arrived that morning and worked remotely for a while. Late morning, it got pretty dark. The wind picked up and the rain started to fall. The problem with destination sessions is that they are a go regardless of the weather. I did a session one time where a storm popped up very quickly, high winds, lightning and a dumping of rain and we were stuck in the middle of Millennium Park. Fortunately, I was indoors on the day of Karen and Joe’s engagement session. As the session time approached, the clouds began to break, and break, and break until there was hardly a cloud in view. Seriously, from the moment I starting photographing the two of them to the end of the session, the day couldn’t be any more perfect!! I loved working with Karen and Joe. We explored some new areas I have not been before and surprisingly, we had a pretty low number of other people to work around during the session. We started at Lincoln Park and seriously, I don’t think we saw but a couple of people walking. The rain that came shortly before probably had something to do with that, but I’m not complaining about a few people at all, especially downtown Chicago! I had a blast working with Karen and Joe and love the opportunity we had to get to know each other as we explored the city!
