Have you ever found that thing you truly enjoy doing, and when you are doing that thing, you break your eyes away a second to look at the clock and it’s been like 10 hours?!!! Well, for me, that “thing” is photography. There is just not enough time in the day to edit pictures. I think time likes to speed up when I decide to work. I started working on pictures this morning at 7:00 a.m., it’s now 11:00, and it feels like I’ve only had time to blink once. But there is something about this job that is SO enjoyable that I can’t stop! Call it an addiction, call it passion, call it whatever you want, but when most people are hating it’s Monday, I couldn’t be happier. I know, crazy, right?
So this past Sunday and Monday (Labor Day) I took the days. Sunday I turned my computer off, bought some retaining wall blocks and started some landscaping. 🙂 Here’s a little tid bit on creating a retaining wall: whatever amount you plan for, double or triple that. I bought 24 blocks, and I thought I had enough to get half the wall done I wanted… I didn’t even get 10% of the way there. But it got me out of the office, it rested my mind, and it was a much needed rest for sure, even though I didn’t physically rest. And then on top of all of this, my parents are on vacation, so we have their dog for a couple of days, so as I worked on the blocks, he got some good quality outdoor time. I just wish our dog could be as calm as him. I guess it’s just not in the beagle’s blood to sit still for more than 5 seconds.
Monday, my wife convinced me to take the day off as well. She didn’t work that day, so we went up to see some of her family, and then headed home. Upon arriving home she took a nap, which I used that time wisely and snuck in some work. 🙂 Then we headed back up to see her family again, but this time it was for me, you guessed it, to work! Her brother was in need for senior pictures, so who better to call than his brother-in-law.
