When I photographed Mark and Kimberly’s engagement session, we had an all cloudy sky to work with and made mention about how much I love cloudy skies. Fast forward to now, and their wedding day is upon us, the skies? Cloudy. Before any pictures were taken, I know that this was going to be a great day. Not only because of the weather, of course, but because Mark and Kimberly are so awesome. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know them over the last couple of years through mutual friends and have even had hockey nights where a group of us would hang to watch the games, it’s pretty awesome when we can build more of a friendship before the wedding day as this makes it so easy not just for us to work with the couple but for the couple to be totally candid around us. I never want to feel like a vendor that’s all business. That’s just no fun for anyone. From the first picture taken to the last, this was such a fantastic wedding to be a part of. Mark and Kimberly were so fun, their wedding party was equally as fun, and I loved having the opportunity to do some pictures at the school. Mark and Kimberly are teachers, so they wanted to incorporate some pictures at the school. Our first setting was a classroom setting where we went old school with some note passing. No pinterest needed for these pictures, we came up with them on the fly. Leaving the classroom, the hall lights were turned off, and the way the lighting looked on the lockers was too cool not to get in a picture. We set up some flashes and got to work.
After the classroom pictures, we made our way to the gym where the rest of the wedding party was brought in. We decided to incorporate some basketball into the pictures. From a jump ball to bench shots, this was a lot of fun and while it’s not my usual style of wedding photography, it definitely provided for some unique pictures and a fun time for everyone. We even had a little Bobby Knight action come to play. HA We loved working with the wedding party and we are so thrilled we were asked to be a part of Mark and Kimberly’s big day. Congratulations you two!
