I can’t get enough of weddings. Sure, they are stressful, things happen, you never know what the weather will bring, you never really feel prepared until the day is over, but at the same time there is something so calming about photographing all of this… we’ll call it chaos. Because in between any brief moments of frustration, or fear that rain will ruin the pictures, or whatever, there’s such a romantic story unfolding in front of everyone and often times it’s hard to see this story because you are either helping out with all the chaos or you are just a guest and are oblivious to the craziness of planning the day. Other than having something left after the day is over, this is ultimately why I love photographing weddings, because it’s my job to not only coordinate the pictures in a way to ensure they all happen but it’s my job to capture the love story being told in the midst of the craziness of a wedding day. I love this! I thrive on this stress level, mostly because I do not stress, ever, but I do allow the stress to keep me on my toes and aware of everything happening.
Tim and Michelle’s wedding day was absolutely amazing. Like I said earlier, in the midst of everything happening, the planning, coordinating, stress, etc, the love story being told by these two was perfect. It’s always easy to remember the stress that comes along with planning a wedding, it’s tough especially when working full time, maybe taking college courses, having a social life, etc, it’s another full time job that you add to your schedule, but again, this is where I view my job as a photographer as that much more important. As I would photograph Tim and Michelle, in between pictures they would talk to one another and the way they talked and looked at each other, you can tell that they are definitely right for the other! They have such fun personalities, by the time we left the event it hardly felt like we were just a wedding vendor leaving but that we were a friend, and I love when it gets to that point with a couple. It’s often times hard to leave the reception because we feel like such close friends with the couple.
When it came to the pictures, at first I was a bit concerned because we had one of those on/off again showers going by, where one minute it’s sunny, and literally 60 seconds later it’s pouring, however, it’s not often I can be happy it rained, but 1. it cooled the temperature down some and 2. when anything is wet, the colors pop so much more and the wetness naturally pumps up the saturation in any colors and creates a more dramatic look. Reason why hollywood movies will spray down the streets during a shoot, or often times feature rain, because the wetness helps with the overall appearance. I was so thrilled with the way the pictures turned out and can’t wait to show off even more!
