I can’t believe wedding season is already upon us, but man, am I glad it’s here!! After a miserable winter of -20 degrees on many days (yes during the days!) it’s about time for warmer weather, and the warm spring weather was finally here. However, for Robby and Ashley’s wedding we got a little taste of summer weather. Mind you, I’m not complaining about this at all, I still remember the awful winter we had, I was excited to have some heat, but I won’t lie, walking into a room with air conditioning sure was nice.
The wedding took place at Chandler’s Gardens in Celina, TX. This location was absolutely beautiful and provided a ton of photographic opportunities from the preparation to the reception. The entire wedding and reception took place here and with all the photo opportunities available we didn’t have to leave the grounds at all. One of the things I love about photography is that each wedding presents something new, maybe it’s a new challenge I am able to tackle, new location, new style, etc. With Robby and Ashley’s wedding, obviously the first challenge is flying, not that this is a huge challenge, but our departure was a little fun. Upon arriving to the terminal and going through security we were walking around trying to decide where to get a little breakfast when the fire alarm went off. For about two minutes everyone looked at each other in a way that said, “is this real? Do we really need to get up?” After the alarm sounds increased in loudness and annoyance the people started to make their way out onto the tarmac at St. Louis airport. That was kind of a trip, however being evacuated out by the fuel tanks, I wasn’t ranking our chances of survival too high if there was a fire. haha
After that excitement we made our way to Dallas where we hung out around the city for a while. The next day was Robby and Ashley’s wedding and the weather channel was calling for an interesting day to say the least. With wonderful weather building up to this day, you know that storm season had to come sooner or later. Opened weather.com and the headline stated that the worst tornado outbreak in history possible for Sunday April 27 starting in the Dallas area. Outdoor wedding+tornadoes… this is not your ideal wedding. Sunday came and it had lightly rained early that morning, and then by 10:00 am, it was warm and sunny. This was definitely an answered prayer and of course for pictures purposes I was excited, but I was also thrilled for Robby and Ashley to have such a beautiful wedding day!
Robby and Ashley were such a blast to work with. From when we did their engagement pictures in Illinois to shooting their wedding. they have amazing personalities, full of laughter and love for each other – it’s literally a photographer’s dream to have a couple like these two to work with. And, let’s be real, they are a good looking couple too. It’s always awesome having the opportunity to walk around with just the couple on their day to get to know them as a couple some and of course do pictures, and working at Chandler’s Gardens we spent quite a bit of time hanging out as we did pictures of them. Not only did we have this chance to talk quite a bit, but by walking around we found some amazing locations for their images and this is where I had the ability to try some new things (a new blog coming on this soon).
The wedding day was a blast! The weather was perfect. Robby and Ashley were such a fun couple to work with. We had the ability to catch up with some friends this weekend as well which is always great. One of those friends is a photographer as well so we had the pleasure of working with Calee, who if you look in our archives you’ll see her senior and wedding pictures here too. All in all this was a great weekend, and quite and adventure for Natasha and me and we were so thrilled to be a part of Robby and Ashley’s big day! Congratulations you two!!
