I’m always a fan of sessions that involve something a little more unique. Locally (sort of) one of the more popular ones is going to Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO for engagement pictures. This is a blast!! Having the opportunity to walk the halls of Busch Stadium and take pictures where ever we want (minus the grass), it’s an awesome experience for the couple as well as myself as the photographer. John and Shelley’s session at Busch was especially interesting because it was the day after a game so we got to see first hand the crews hard at work preparing for the next game. Maybe I’m just weird like this but it was fascinating watching the crew mow the grass. Maybe it’s just my obsession with mowing, but I was definitely jealous in their mowers. Granted, it was cool seeing the crew at work, but the photoshopping required? Not so easy.
John and Shelley were awesome to work with. Both of them excited about the session in Busch, although I think John was a little more excited than Shelley since she’s a Yankee’s fan, but regardless of what team you root for, it’s still a fun experience. John and Shelley had such outgoing and warm personalities, it’s hard not to feel like a close friend when you are with them. Granted I knew John from back in our grade school days but that’s been a few years (maybe a little more than a few). So as there photographer that made it super easy working with them as they let their personalities show in the pictures.
I think I’m also a fan of the early morning sessions. There’s something pretty awesome about walking the streets of St. Louis with very few (if any) cars in site. There aren’t hundreds of people walking around. When we got to the arch, there were literally just a handful of people there and they were construction workers. No visitors, no distractions, just us, the arch and the sun filled sky. Everything about this session was perfect and I can’t wait to photograph John and Shelley’s wedding next June!
