I realize this seems like a silly questions depending on how you look at it. When it comes to family pictures, most people immediately visualize a family with vibrant summer greens or fall warmth surrounding them. I totally get it. Not many people are lining up to spend 20-30 minutes outside in the brutal cold to have pictures taken, not unless it’s snowing and even then, its not something many desire. But what if there was a way to have a family session to celebrate life, togetherness, growth and not have to face the brutal cold? What if you could have family sessions that tell the story of your family in an environment that was comfortable and familiar? What if a family session was more about cherished moments than the family looking at the camera saying cheese?
That is where indoor lifestyle sessions come in handy. My favorite part about these sessions is that they are so real and can incorporate something you and your family love doing together. Whether it’s reading books. playing games, cooking, wrestling, or whatever you like. Through this, we are able to capture real moments, and best of all these are not fake moments or forced smiles. They are real. Think about it. When your kids are doing something fun, chances are you whip out your phone and start snapping pictures, right? What if you could be included in that moment of your kids playing and capture not just their smiles but you as well? I know what you might be thinking, I like not being in the picture. I don’t want to see myself, but consider that moment in time, that image, 20 years from now. You being in it now holds more meaning. Not just to you, but your now grown kids. Trust me, I totally get not wanting to be in the picture, I like being behind the camera. However, how nice is it to look back on pictures of yourself from when you were younger and see your other family members (parents, grandparents, etc)? Pretty nice, right? They hold more meaning to you than a picture of just yourself.
Additionally, indoor lifestyle sessions are not limited to just family pictures. I may be just you and your spouse. Maybe it’s just you and your dog. Maybe it’s a senior session. All of these are great situations for indoor lifestyle sessions and all of this is why I truly believe winter is a great time for sessions to happen.
