A little over three weeks into 2021 and I’ve now had two weddings! What a way to start the year. Sure, it’s cold outside, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have an amazing day for pictures. It was definitely cold on Michelle and Blake’s wedding day. The wind was icy cold! But the lighting was amazing, but we’ll get to that in a bit. The day started in Teutopolis, IL where the ceremony would take place. As has been the story of many weddings over the past year, the wedding was smaller than originally planned, but something about the day, as I have said many times before, was so great! The atmosphere was so relaxed. It was seriously perfect! After the ceremony, it was time to battle the cold and create imagery outside. Everyone handled the cold so well! At times, the wind would blow and it would get brutal out! But still, the wedding party pushed through and fought the cold. One of my favorite things about winter weddings is that the sun sets so much earlier than in the summer, so we are able to capture soft lit images at 3:00 in the afternoon! Whereas in the summer, 3:00 is pretty much high noon harsh light. Michelle and Blake wanted pictures with the cross in the background. Effingham, IL is known for it’s large cross right by the interstate. We created some pretty cool perspective images with the cross and at this time, the lighting worked so perfectly for us, it was pretty magical, minus what felt like 20 degree cold. 😉 The reception took place at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham. The placed looked amazing! It was so intimate and well decorated. I know I’m going to overuse this word, but it was so perfect! As the evening went on, the celebration got started. The dance floor was full of people enjoying themselves and celebrating the love of Michelle and Blake. What a great evening. What a fun wedding. Congratulations you two!
