I’m sure I sound like a broken record if you read through many of my wedding blogs from this year, but I’m convinced that this year is just the year of smooth weddings! For the most part, every wedding has been so smooth. Very few hiccups, and very few delays. Not only are these weddings a dream to photograph, I’m sure for the couple, it’s nice to have a wedding day that’s relatively stress-free (at least in terms of wedding day stress). Selena and Aaron’s wedding was just that, a dream to photograph! The morning went ahead of schedule which created a relaxed environment as they prepared for their big day. The ceremony took place at St. Anthony Church in Effingham and it was absolutely perfect! After the ceremony and family pictures, we made our way to Community Park for outdoor pictures of the wedding party. Shortly after we arrived, a massive cloud in the sky covered the sun for pretty much the duration of our outdoor pictures. This could not have been any more perfect! The location we were in was great, but the way the trees were positioned, sunlight was peeking in at all the wrong places, but when that cloud came, the lighting became soft and spread out! On top of the amazing light, Selena and Aaron’s wedding party was so great to work with. All of them were ready to roll when it came time for pictures, because of this, outdoor pictures went ahead of schedule too!
We were so ahead of schedule at this point, that the wedding party arrived at the reception with enough time to mingle with guests and relax a bit before the celebration started. It also allowed us ample time to work on detail pictures, setting up and planning our spots. As photographers this is great. We are not cookie cutter photographers. We do not do the same thing over and over. Sure, we do a lot of similar things because we know what works and what provides a great experience for couples, but I really want to make sure we produce a product that is unique for couples, so any chance we have time to set up new angles or lighting during the reception is great! Selena and Aaron were so great to work with. Their wedding party and families were fantastic. We had a great time celebrating their big day with them and feel so honored that they chose us as their photographers!
