I decided to do something a little different this week and include a few images since I missed last week’s image due to being sick (no fun). It’s no secret that photography today with the use of phones or tablets are one of the top devices to take images. And unlike many professional photographers, I welcome them. Don’t misunderstand, I don’t welcome a phone as a device for professional photography, but the abilities phone cameras have today, they are equivalent if not better to where point and shoot cameras were just a few short years ago. And because most of us have a smartphone, there’s no reason that any memory should not be captured, we have a camera on us almost 24/7.
Granted my pictures are not “memories” so to speak and more just skies, I do remember taking each of these images. There’s something about a picture that even though it may not be an image of you or something happening, simply having the scene in the image can spark a memory. For example, the first image of the dark sky, I remember coming home and this wall cloud was coming towards us, yet it was calm the entire time. No wind, no thunder, no rain, but it looked pretty freaky. I remember this because there’s something exciting about photographing a storm, something that gets the adrenaline going.
My favorite camera app is Camera+. It’s a fantastic app for taking pictures, allowing you to have so much control in the edits and even the camera settings! So I have control over aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. So while it’s not a DSLR camera, it’s the next best thing that’s always in my pocket nearly all the time. Again, the purpose for the weekly image is to hopefully encourage others to join me. I hope that it encourages you to look at your world a little differently, to see the beauty around you even if you think there is none to be found.
