For this week I decided to celebrate the white winter that has finally showed up. Last week we got slammed pretty hard with about 8 inches of snow, although compared to the north and north east it sounds like we just got a couple flurries. But whatever, we finally have snow. I wanted something that captured just how white it was. I wanted a road. My first thought was a road into the woods, that would be pretty awesome, but I couldn’t think of any locations nearby (and as soon as the snow melts, I’ll probably find 20 perfect locations), so I decided to just go exploring. Again, as I said in my very first post, the great thing about the weekly image is it takes me out of my comfort zone and forces me to look at the world a little differently. I primarily photograph people, so not photographing people is a whole new ball game for me.
As I was driving I found myself on a road that had not been paved, only some tracks from other vehicles. Thankfully my FWD car is a beast, or I like to think it is, and I hauled through it. I found myself in a wide open terrain. The white seemed to go on forever. I parked the car and started snapping different angles at different settings until I got the look I wanted. The first picture I have hear I bumped up the blues and clarity, but that’s about it. The second one, I wanted something that looked old school yet kind of creepy at the same time. Winter is a happy time when you are a kid and you are out of school playing in the snow, but it’s also a miserable time because most people are stuck inside because they don’t want to mess with the cold, so I thought why not edit a set of pictures that captures the moods of winter.
