Warmer weather!! Finally! This time of year, spirits seem to lift with the rising temperatures, but 2021 feels a little different. Am I the only one that feels this way. It’s almost like we’ve been living a winter life for the past year and as restrictions begin to lift and public outings begin to return to normal, it’s feeling good. I have to imagine it’s the way a bear feels coming out of hibernation. We’ve been in our “caves” for so long and we begin to peak out a little bit to gauge how things are and in a short time, we are running around in the pastures and snatching salmon with our mouths by a waterfall… okay maybe not that last part, but you get the point. Things are feeling GOOD! This time of year also has people getting in the family picture mood. I don’t blame you. Warmer weather, green grass, budding flowers, it all makes for some pretty amazing images.
But when should you book your session?
That’s the question that seems to run through everyones mind. At the time of writing this blog, it’s nearly 70 degrees outside and it’s only March 8. This warm day has people wanting to jump on family sessions right now. But wait! It’s too soon. The grass and trees are still in winter mode. Sure, we can do sessions right now and they’ll look great. But just because it’s warmer out doesn’t necessarily mean it’s spring session time yet. While I love this warmer time of year, and the session itch starts to consume me, I have to remind myself that it won’t quite be time until late March at best. Seeing that we don’t get that early Spring snow like we have the past year or two, the last month of March or the first week of April are usually good times to plan on doing family sessions.
To make things even more exciting, I have revamped my family pricing. I know when most photographers say this, that means that the pricing has increased, but not for me. Some have increased, sure, but I also have short sessions and cheaper options available. Why? After a LOT of consideration, I felt that family pictures are so important and I want every family to be able to have family pictures taken. I don’t want family pictures to be something that waits 10 years because you do not want to spend a fortune or spend hours having your family pictures taken. I get it. As a family of 4, doing an hour long session and breaking bank to have the pictures taken would be impossible. With this in mind, I wanted to be able to offer options that did not break your bank account or take up all of your day.
So what, you’re a budget photographer now? I hate the thought of being considered a budget photographer because nothing about the service you receive or the images you receive will be budget photographer quality. Rather, it’s simply been a heart change. My desire is to provide a great service, great images, and be able to offer this service and product to anyone who wants it.
That being said, while I suggest waiting until the end of March or the beginning of April, you can always secure your session at any time. I have families securing their summer and fall sessions right now.
